GOD, GUNS AND LIBERTY

May all who love their families, their homeland, and the God Who gave them life heed that which follows. Let us begin the journey by noting that God and Scripture do support the right to keep and bear arms in the defense of life, liberty, and property. Moreover, our Founding Fathers knew that the right of the people to keep and bear arms was so essential to their liberty that they included it in the Constitution, right along with the freedoms of religious expression, free speech, the right of petition and assembly, and freedom of the press. No honest government should ever fear arms in the hands of its citizens. Only a government moving toward tyranny needs fear guns in the hands of its citizens.

For the past fifty years, liberal politicians have sought to impose restrictive gun laws on Americans. Little by little, they have been undermining the 2nd Amendment, all with the intent of not only gun registration, but actual gun confiscation. Every time there is some random act of violence in this country, the liberals begin beating the drums for more restrictive gun legislation. America is already choking on gun laws that seek to remove guns from honest, law-abiding citizens, leaving guns only in the hands of the criminals. That makes a lot of sense!

 

The tragedy that occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT on December 14, 2012, leaving twenty elementary school children dead along with six adults, sorely grieves every American. But remember this: that tragedy did not occur for the lack of gun laws! No school official, no principal, no teacher, and no public safety officer was armed, standing ready to protect the lives of these innocent children in a “gun free zone” at this public school. Connecticut has more anti-gun laws on the books than almost any other state in the nation; not one of these laws would have protected these children from the maniac that pushed his way into this public school and murdered these children.

 

In the aftermath of this horrible shooting, the stranger in the White House, politicians from both political parties, educators, and news media outlets began beating the drums for more and harsher gun legislation. Some of the most rabid anti-gun bashers called not only for national registration of all guns, but also some clamored for gun confiscation. As of April of 2013, almost one thousand pieces of anti-gun legislation have been advanced in the various state legislatures across the country. The frenzy to disarm the American public has become the focus of liberal zealots who wish to axe the 2nd Amendment to the U. S. Constitution.

 

The Stark Reality

 

Across America, millions of people, despondent over the last presidential elections and the direction America is moving, are beginning to have as primary topics of conversation God, guns, and liberty. There is a stirring deep in the soul of White America. This spark of life is especially vibrant among the millions who live in the heartland, the “fly over” portions of America. There appears to be a ground swell, a grass roots revival among Americans with spiritual, moral, and political roots that tie them to the former glory days of America. These people look with disdain at the deplorable state of the country and see no hope in the political future of the United States.

 

Tens of millions of people across the country have lost absolutely all confidence in government. Our Government is in a state of paralysis, having passed no federal budget in the last four years. We face a mountain of public debt (seventeen trillion and growing!), out of control spending, a Socialist healthcare albatross that threatens to break the financial backs of the American people, and a government that passes out weapons to foreign Mexican warlords (dubbed “Fast and Furious”); at the same time, the same government seeks to impose harsh gun controls (if not out-right gun confiscation) on the American people.

 

People sense that this nation has literally lost its way. There is little spiritual vision left in the land. The moral blight upon the American public is in the pit of reprobation. God and the Bible have been removed from the public square, and generations of American clergy have sealed their lips and in spineless wonder witnessed the barbaric murder of more than fifty-five million unborn children in the abortion murder mills of the U.S following the U.S. Supreme ruling under Roe v Wade, 1973. Sodomites boldly parade their vile filth with the endorsement of the U.S. Government and growing numbers of the clergy. Race mixing, almost unknown to former generations, is pandemic across America.

 

The government engages in no-win, undeclared, trillion-dollar wars, only to watch politicians order a retreat from the battlefield and make a mockery of the brave soldiers who, with good conscience, serve their nation in foreign fields of battle. We wage trillion-dollar wars to defend the borders of foreign nations while at the same time we tolerate thirty million Mexican nationals crossing our southern border and seizing much of the American Southwest. And now, both major political parties are competing for which one can come up with the quickest pathway to U.S. citizenship for these millions of illegal aliens.

 

America is a land where millions of urban youth, raised without God, the Bible, or moral absolutes, are given a steady diet of simulated murder and sadistic violence on video games, television, and at the cinema. Addicted to these endless simulated acts of violence, the ingestion of drugs and alcohol, and with souls barren of Christianity morality, they have become walking time bombs. In response to the growing violence and mass killings, far-left Socialists and other Progressive humanists are clamoring for harsh gun controls and ultimately gun confiscation.

 

Out of this morbid cloud of despondency, a ray of light has risen across the hinterlands as disgruntled Americans—young and old, male and female, Christian and non-Christian—but all with a love for America, desperately want a future for their children. They are flocking to gun shows and emptying the inventory of gun dealers across the country. What we are witnessing is a national frenzy as people rush to buy guns and stock up on ammunition.

 

Gun sales soared prior to the presidential election of 2008 and continued in the aftermath of our re-electing this stranger to the White House. Now, the right half of the American public is virtually in a panic. With left wing idiots clamoring for gun controls, if not out-right gun confiscation, conservative Americans are fed up. They are taking no chances with a government filled with corrupt politicians and a Socialist, Communist President.

 

In the minds of millions, the presidential election of 2012 marked the tipping point. His re-election at the hands of a surging, non-White population, aided by a liberal White element preoccupied with their love for redistributing everyone else’s wealth, simply shocked the rest of the country. For tens of millions of White Americans, the 2012 election marked the end of the America they once knew. Within days after this stranger’s re-election, his left-wing coalition began cooking up new deals to further gut our economy, raise taxes, redistribute the wealth of hard-working Americans, and worst of all, launch the campaign to give amnesty to millions of illegal Mexican nationals. At the onset of his second term, this stranger joined the liberal press in a media blitz to push for harsh gun controls, one more in a number of incremental steps toward complete gun confiscation. This became the catalyst that galvanized the American public to head for the gun shows.

 

Is It Time for a Reality Check?

 

So, what is behind this push for to buy guns as if they were the most important item in the family budget? What is driving the passion that millions of Americans are beginning to feel about God, guns, and liberty?   Americans who once had no time for God, did not consider guns to be of any importance, and seldom thought about liberty are suddenly awakening from their slumber. Many of them are angry at the direction the country is moving. While the millions who voted for the stranger are content with the socialist policies being pushed on the country, millions are not.

 

The people of the United States are polarized between two basic groups that, while crossing demographic, religious, ethnic, and economic status, are diametrically opposed to the direction the country is going. Not since the War of Northern Aggression (1861-1865) has America been such a divided nation. Without question, the vast majority of these despondent and frustrated Americans that feel disenfranchised are Anglo-Saxons.

 

In the Twenty-first Century, the United States is almost equally divided between two completely diverse groups. First is the non-White coalition combined with White liberals, predominately women, who support the secular, progressive liberal agenda of big government, massive spending, high taxation, a mountain of government debt, socialist-run healthcare, gun controls, and a modern moral agenda that pushes for abortion and same-sex marriage. Opposing this faction is a slightly less number of Americans who want limited government, low taxes, free economy, fewer government regulations, private health insurance, limited welfare, protected borders, energy independence, and a moral agenda that would end abortion, state-supported sodomy, and same-sex marriage. People who oppose the progressive, secular agenda feel themselves becoming disenfranchised at the ballot box, and with amnesty being granted for additional millions of Mexican nationals (most of whom support the secular, progressive agenda), conservative Americans feel they are left with no choice but to respond to the innate desire for self-preservation. Thus, they are trying to find themselves a gun.

 

Let me be clear: those trying to arm themselves as they wake from their sleep are hardworking Americans, the very people who are footing the tax burden that supports the 51% who put the stranger in office. They are the financial backbone of the economy. They have no intention or desire to take up arms against their own government. This is simply a move toward self-preservation. They do not trust the U. S. Government. They believe that gun control laws are incremental steps toward complete government confiscation of guns. They know that the United States Government has an agenda that would leave only criminals and the U. S. police state in charge of weapons, with a completely unarmed public.

 

Millions of Americans bypass the liberal-controlled news media and get their news from uncensored Internet sources or cable news networks. They know that the Department of Homeland Security, established in the wake of the 9/11 attack upon U.S. soil, is now the third largest department of government in the country, with 200,000 employees and a budget close to one hundred billion annually. Far-sighted Americans warned that the creation of this massive federal bureaucracy would create a monster that would void the cherished Bill of Rights and trash whatever protection might still exist under the U.S. Constitution.

 

Congress’s passage of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) in 2012, in cooperation with the stranger in the White House, allows the U.S. military to arrest and detain indefinitely American citizens at Guantanamo Bay under the guise that they are domestic terrorists. Section 1031 of the (NDAA) act essentially repeals the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878 by authorizing the U.S. military to perform law enforcement functions on American soil.

 

The vague and often broad definition of a terrorist is left to speculation, but could be anyone who crosses the line in opposition to the policies of the United States Government. This means that Americans could be declared domestic terrorists and thrown in a military brig, with no recourse whatsoever. Is this a scary thought for millions of Americans? Given the fact that the Department of Homeland Security has characterized behavior such as buying gold, owning guns, home schooling children, using cash, and all sorts of mundane behaviors as potential indicators of domestic terrorism, such a provision is wide open for abuse and poses a direct threat to our future safety. The government has already admitted that drones can be used to kill Americans suspected of belonging to a foreign terrorist organization.

  

The Big Question

 

In late March of 2013, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) was alleged to have awarded a contract for millions of rounds of .40 caliber, hollow-point ammunition. Think about this. Why would the DHS require hollow-point ammunition when it is outlawed for use in warfare? This huge government bureaucracy has also ordered millions of rounds of .223 caliber rifle ammunition. NATO forces use this type of ammunition. It is also alleged that in recent months, the DHS ordered thousands of assault weapons. Think about this and ask the hard questions. Does the U.S. Government plan something offensive against Americans who might not want to give up their arms peaceably, or does the U.S. Government fear the 51% that voted against the Socialist agenda in both 2008 and 2012 and feel intimidated by the fact that these millions of Americans are buying guns? Is the U.S. Government seated in Washington D.C. planning an offensive strategy or a defensive plan behind closed doors? Do the American people know what the politicians who order drone strikes to kill suspected American terrorists might be up to?  

 

Back to the Basics

 

God, guns, and liberty were the fundamental truths upon which America was built. The first Europeans to arrive in the early 1600s brought with them a strong faith in Jesus Christ, a passion for liberty, the Bible, and their gun.   Every essential point of the American experiment begins with God. Belief in the Living God by a strong faith in Jesus Christ, complete trust in the divine revelation and preservation of the Word of God, a passion for liberty, the conviction to use a gun, and the necessary tools of the axe and the hoe—these marked America’s beginning efforts toward civilization. To these elements were added the Christian virtues of honesty, ambition, hard work, self-reliance, initiative, personal responsibility, accountability, and moral integrity. Americans became a tough, disciplined people as they carved out of this primeval wilderness stretching across three thousand miles the most exceptional nation ever to exist. Every square foot of this nation had to be won by the blood, sweat, tears, and pure guts of generations of Americans who battled against nature, blood thirsty Indians, disease, pestilence, and the catastrophic power of North American weather.

 

Americans of the Twenty-first Century know that hope for the future rests upon the grace and goodness of God.   Godly repentance before Jesus Christ and full restoration to His divine favor and unchanging, absolute laws are essential for those who hope for a future in this country. Our desire to serve God and one another and maintain the freedom to do so—this is the basic premise for owning a gun.   No man can love and serve God and his neighbor without being able to protect His right to serve God, defend his family, and assist with the defense of his neighbors. God, guns, and liberty are inseparable from the American psyche.

  

God Alone Is Our Help!

 

God-fearing, Spirit-filled Americans must know that God alone is the source of our hope in the grim days ahead. Guns without God have no lasting purpose! Fifty-five Anglo-Saxon Founding Fathers signed the original birth certificate (The Declaration of Independence) that documented the separation of our Colonial Christian Fathers from the British Empire. Most of them were professing Christians and members of the established congregations of the Christian faith. These men pledged their lives, fortunes, and honor to the principles of this declaration. Among these truths was the declaration that all basic human rights come from God, and no government can legitimately take them away. One succinct statement in The Declaration of Independence that every American needs to remember and defend is this: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” The right to life, liberty, and property—all essential to the happiness of manderive their origin in God, not government. It requires the collective conscience of the nation to remember that these rights come from God. Therefore, He alone can remove these rights. The words of John Adams, a principal Founding Father of this nation, follow: “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other.” We cannot expect the innumerable blessings that have come to America to continue without remaining faithful to the moral and spiritual values upon which this nation was established.

 

University of Dallas Historian, the late M.E. Bradford, said this: “Of the 55 Framers of the Constitution with no more than five exceptions they were orthodox members of one of the established congregations.” The foundations of this nation rest on God and the moral absolutes of His Word. The rights handed down by our Founding Fathers are contingent upon the hearts of the people maintaining a right relationship with God. Moreover, these basic human rights must at sundry times be defended. For this reason, the Founding Fathers established The Bill of Rights as fundamental to ensuring the life, liberty, property, and happiness of the people. Our Founding Fathers considered the 2nd Amendment to the Bill of Rights a priority: “A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.”  

 

The right of the people to keep and bear arms is an absolutely essential heritage of the American people. Gun ownership is basic to the American story. Without private ownership of guns, there would be no United States of America. Examine, if you will, some of the personal sentiments of the Founding Fathers of America with respect to the 2nd Amendment and the right of the people to keep and bear arms. The number of famous Americans, past and present who have defended this is endless. Consider the following as a token of the voluminous quotes available:

 

“A free people ought to be armed” (George Washington).

 

“A free people ought not only to be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government” (George Washington).

 

“Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety” (Benjamin Franklin).

 

“The Constitutions of most of our states (and of the United States) assert that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed” (Thomas Jefferson).

 

“When the Government fears the people, there is liberty. When the people fear the Government, there is tyranny” (Thomas Jefferson).

 

“Those who hammer their guns into a plow, will plow for those who do not” (Thomas Jefferson).

 

“I ask sir, what is the militia? It is the whole people except for a few politicians” (Thomas Jefferson).

 

“To disarm the people is the most effectual way to enslave them” (George Mason, father of the Bill of Rights and the Virginia Declaration of Rights).

“Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed, as they are in almost every country in Europe” (Noah Webster).

 

“The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops” (Noah Webster).

 

“Americans have the right and advantage of being armed, unlike the people of other countries, whose leaders are afraid to trust them with arms” (James Madison).

 

“The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. A well regulated militia, composed of the body of the people, trained to arms, is the best and most natural defense of a free country” (James Madison).

 

“An armed man is a citizen. An unarmed man is a subject” (John Adams).

 

“To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them” (Richard Henry Lee).

 

“A militia, when properly formed, are in fact the people themselves …and include all men capable of bearing arms” (Richard Henry Lee).

 

“This may be considered as the true palladium of liberty …The right of self defense is the first law of nature: in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest limits possible. Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink ofdestruction” (St. George Tucker).

 

“What, Sir, is the use of a militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty …Whenever Governments mean to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise an army upon their ruins” (Elbridge Gerry).

 

God, guns, and liberty: without these, America has no future! Without guns, people have no means of protecting life or property and limiting the power of political tyrants. Without the means of defending life and property from tyrants, there is no liberty, and men are rendered mere slaves. The history of the Celtic, Anglo, Saxon, Germanic peoples confirms a continuous struggle for freedom to worship and serve God, to ensure ownership of property, and be free from dictators, tyrants, and those who seek to exercise the power of the police state to enslave the people. The right to keep and bear arms is derived from God and cannot be surrendered without forfeiture of liberty.

 

The Testimony of Jesus Christ

 

The highest authority in heaven and earth is the Lord Jesus Christ. The Master Himself instructed His disciples, saying, “…he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one” (Luke 22:36).   The Lord Jesus Christ implied the right to keep and bear arms in Luke 11:21: “When a strong man armed keepeth his palace, his goods are in peace.” Every Christian home in America should be protected; someone in that home should be prepared to use a weapon in defense of life and property. Moreover, every able-bodied American should consider himself a member of the vast citizen militia living throughout America.

 

Jesus declared this in Luke 19:27: “But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.” This is the side of Jesus Christ that few today know. Consider what Jesus further declared in John 18:36: “My kingdom is not of this world: if my kingdom were of this world, then would my servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now is my kingdom not from hence.”   Our Lord Jesus Christ was not a pacifist. Recall that it was Jesus Who cleared the moneychangers out of the temple, overturning their tables and using a whip to stimulate their exodus from the sanctuary.

 

The Bible Supports Gun Ownership

 

The Bible confirms the right of the people to keep and bear arms in defense of life, property, and liberty. At the dawn of creation, God called Adam kind to exercise dominion over the earth. In Genesis 1:28, God commanded Adam kind to exercise “…dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” The gun is the great equalizer. Without the use of weapons, dominion is impossible. After the Flood, God declared this regarding Adam kind: “And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, ...into your hand are they delivered” (Genesis 9:2).

 

God Himself stationed Cherubims with flaming swords east of the Garden of Eden to keep the way of the tree of life (Genesis 3:24). Joel 3:10 contains the command to “Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.” In judgment upon those who incited the building of the golden calf in Exodus 32:27-28, Moses gave this command: “…Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbour. And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people

that day about three thousand men.”

 

Carefully read in Nehemiah the manner in which he and company were forced to arm themselves in order to enforce the walls around the city of Jerusalem and ensure their safety. The opposition was so strong that Nehemiah and his fellow Israelites were forced to arm themselves: “And it came to pass from that time forth, that the half of my servants wrought in the work, and the other half of them held both the spears, the shields, and the bows, and the habergeons; and the rulers were behind all the house of Judah …For the builders, every one had his sword girded by his side, and so builded….” (Nehemiah 4:16-18).

 

A careful study of Scripture confirms that God indeed does sanction the right of the common people to keep arms. “But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel” (I Timothy 5:8). This command of Scripture surely includes not only provisions of food, clothing, and shelter, but also the protection of the family. Every castle should be defended by someone who is trained in the use of a firearm. Again, those firearms should be carefully stored out of the reach of children, but quickly available in an emergency.

 

It is imperative that God-fearing Americans continue to defend the Second Amendment. We cannot, we dare not, and we shall not surrender this basic right from God to us by our Christian Founding Fathers. The American public is well armed. Millions of Americans possess firearms. Let us pray that they know how to properly use these weapons and possess the necessary accessories to make it useful when needed.

 

We must never forget that gun registration always—without exception—leads to gun confiscation. Every nation that has moved toward restrictive gun laws eventually disarms its people with gun confiscation. Let us not follow the sad pathway of multiple examples of people who, having lost the right to keep and bear arms, were slaughtered by those who had the guns.   Politicians must not be allowed to infringe upon the 2nd Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. As a life long member of the NRA and having served honorably in the United States Air Force, I will defend to my last breath the right of our people to keep and bear arms in defense of life, property, and the God-given liberty passed to us from former God-fearing generations.
